I'm on my 3rd set of belts on my mower. It has 114 hours and its A real pain to replace them.

Dealer can't find the problem. Its had normal use. Maybe even light use. I have to take it to the dealer to get the belts replaced.

Other people I have talked to don't have this problem. The mower was bought in late 2007. I expected more from A mower that cost as much as this one did. The dealer tried to find the problem but couldn't come up with anything that they could see wrong with it.

I would like to see A rep.

Belt tensioners and possibly loose bearings are common issues that can lead to premature belt failure.

Oh My!!!

Same issue here...have the Diesel Front mount. Bought it new in 2010.

Just sent it back to the dealer yet again for broken PTO Clutch belts. This has been an ongoing issue since 6 months into owning this expensive machine. Only have 178.8 hours on this machine in over 5 years! That's ridiculous.

I have been in contact with both a factory guy, the Company Rep and the Dealer. They cannot find the issue either!

I think it's a really expensive lemon!

Good luck!

I have a 620T, 2006 front mount grasshopper. I had the same belt issue and the company sent me a different style belt tightener.

Instead of pushing the belts in to tighten they use longer belts and push them out to tighten. No problem since....

I had the exact same problem .. but, not only have I gone through 4 belts in less than 3 years, Also the middle blade had just fallen off while cutting my grass ( this happened twice) ...

I did not trust the guys at the dealer because it is recorded and we have proof that people are bringing mowers and other equipment in and the guys at the dealer are not doing the work but charging (charging for work not done).... All I have gotten is a lot of talk from the Grasshopper company... The owner of the dealership wanted to help me and offered a few things but I declined because I don't trust the people that work for him... My first belt shredded and broke within a few months of purchasing..

When I finally decided to contact the Grasshopper Rep. after the third belt and a blade fell off (2 years later) the Rep. told me even though we were past the warranty period he and Grasshopper would get this mower fixed and do whatever was needed to make things right because we had a paper trail proving this was an ongoing problem since the initial purchase... When I finally heard enough talk and no action from the Rep.

I tried to get a lawyer involved...

The second he was made aware of a lawyer he said to me that he talked with someone higher up and Grasshopper decided this was a problem between me and the dealer and Grasshopper is no longer responsible .... And now I still have a brand new mower ( 226V ) sitting in my garage for over 1 year with a broken belt and a blade sitting on the side ( And this mower only has 150 total hours ) !!!

Have you contacted the company directly? Most manufacturers have forms on their websites you can fill out to get direct responses, especially for service-related issues.
